DESCRIPTION: WW - Rolex Oyster "Panda" Daytona, ref 6239, circa 1970, 37mm x 43mm to lug tips, 19mm lug width, original stainless steel screw back Oyster case with polished steel tachymeter bezel with black painted highlights, riveted Oyster bracelet signed Rolex, original silvered "panda" dial with applied silver baton indices with luminous pip at edge, three inset subregisters for minute recording, hour recording and subsidiary seconds, 17J cal 722-1, adjusted to 3 positions, s#2390677, triple signed with signed bracelet, bracelet ref 7205 with 60 end links and a date stamp of 1-53, inside back ref 6239. A fantastic watch for the person who wants a great piece with a few issues that need sorting. Includes a letter from the original owner's family detailing the three generations of Eatons who enjoyed wearing this piece, as well as details about the original owner Zip Eaton, who was a world renowned trap shooter and the owner of Eaton & Turner, a Montana jeweler that carried Rolex.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running though mainspring is broken at end which allows the watch to only run for several hours, chronograph functions and resets properly, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, no oxide, very light fine scratches to plates; excellent-plus dial with light surface spotting; excellent-plus hands; polished case shows medium wear, polishing extends to the inside of the lugs where the serial number and case number reside, both are still legible with a 10X loupe, two small holes have been drilled into the caseback to allow some previous watchmaker to get inside the case, light dings on the backs of the lugs from being worn on a bracelet; bracelet shows light wear, light stretch; replacement Rolex signed crown shows hardly any wear, good threads; good crystal; resealed for auction.
